Retaking classes in the 12th grade?

I failed Geometry and Spanish 2 in the 10th grade.

Well, I got D's, which is still passing, but that's like getting F's to me.

I'm an 11th grader now and I'm on my way to the 12th grade.

I want to take these classes over again, in order to improve my GPA (3.33) for college.

The only thing I'm worried about, is whether this will affect my credits.

And whether colleges will even see my new grades in these classes,

even if I am retaking them, since college applications supposed to be sent

at a certian time.

Any possibility here?

Talk to me please.

:O!

First off- relax. Seriously. You have a year left. It doesn’t hurt to think about college, but it does hurt to stress about it.

Second- this isn’t something most people here would be able to answer, I suspect. Does your school have guidance counselors or a career center? They are far more likely to know. Ask your counselor or the school registrar what the ramifications of retaking the classes are.

Don’t retake anything. You apply to college in the very beginning of your senior year anyways, so you wouldn’t have time to replace the crappy grades. Although it might look good to show that you care about the material and want to learn it… although I doubt that’s the case with Geometry/Sp2.

Plus, despite what you hear on here, a 3.3 is good. I have a 3.3 (and yes, a few D’s) and still managed to get into USC/Georgia Tech/Michigan State.

You should be fine.

I know, I know…

I should take a chill pill, but it’s so hard not to stress over my grades!

I know the feeling man. But it’s not as big of a deal as you think it is.

I hope not… lol.

I’ll be happy if I get into
University of Maryland: Baltimore County.

My Spring Break was basically ruined, with me stressing out and everything.

UMD Baltimore County:

2009 Admitted Freshman GPA’s

3.75-4.0 38%
3.5-3.74 19%
3.25-3.49 16%
3.0-3.24 14%
2.5-2.99 12%
2.0-2.49 1%
1.0-1.99 0%
0.0-0.99 0%

You are fineeeeeee.

well you could take them at a community college this summer

That 16% still scares the crap out of me.

You realize that 14%, 12% and 1% of their applicants are all below that though, right?

So maybe your chances are higher than you thought! Not that I’ve ever taken Statistics, hurr. But it’s a comforting thought.

It’s comforting for a couple of minutes.

Let me stop before my hair starts falling out… lol

^ Cut this attitute out right now sir or you’ll be living in hell for the next year.

Living in hell is the last thing I want to worry about right now.
