Hey guys, I'm a ccc student and here is my situation. Back in highschool I took a history class so i wouldnt have to take it my junior year, however i recieved a D in the class. So recently I took that class over again but at another ccc where i got a B. From what I have been told I have to retake the class at the same CCC to get the D removed. So I am taking it again right now at the CCC where i recieved the D. The problem is that I may recieve a C or D for reasons I dont want to get into right now. My question is, how will UC's calculate all of this? will they take the average of the 'D' and the "B"??? And also if i recieve a D again where i first recieved the 'D' what happens? Sorry if this all sounds confusing, but any help would be great!

Why on earth would you take the class a third time? I understand that it doesn't impact your GPA very well, but you've already gotten a B in the class.

i'm retaking 2 B's. I'm like a Lexus...a beaten down, desperate lexus looking for a university to use me. :-D

If I were on the adcom, I would really look down on someone retaking classes they'd already received good grades in. I think it's worse than resume padding with ECs; it looks like you're more concerned with your GPA than actually learning. I think universities will know that you're desperate...

yeah thats what i was thinking.... so do you guys know what will happen if i got a D then a B then a D again? will they just take the average of the B and the D?

That depends on the school.

yeah im applying to the UC's

I'm a bit confused here. So the first time you took the class you received a D, the second time a B, and then you decided you retake the class once again in hopes to receive an A but rather received another D? I don't see the point in retaking a class that you've already received a B in. As mentioned above, it will look bad to UC admissions but you should really consult a counselor about this. I have a friend who replaced 3 F's he received at a CCC from when he was in high school with 3 A's. Well, this affected his acceptance to CAL and he ended up having to attend USC.

here is what happend... i got a D many many years ago at (Diablo Valley College)... then when i attended a CCC after highschool i went to Santa Barbara City College where i took the class again and got a B... however people told me that i have to retake the class at the same college that i recieved the substandard grade in so i went back this summer to do it, and all these problems came up etc... so now i will probably recieve a D or a C at best...

I thought that classes taken while in high school didn't transfer or get factored into a college GPA?

i am pretty sure everything transferable, non remidial, and on ur transcript do count.
