Retaking precalc

I took precalc at my community college. Can I/ should I retake it at uf? I really don't think I'm ready for calc

I’m not sure if you can retake it if you already passed and received credit from a community college. But I wouldn’t be afraid of Calc 1. There’s a lot of tutoring available on campus–especially for Calc 1 students. For example Broward tutoring has scheduled hours you can go in to ask questions and they do reviews for every exam.

Although if you’re not comfortable with precalc, I can see how calc can be a challenge. Calc as a whole (1, 2, and 3) isn’t terribly difficult, it’s usually the algebra and precalc that’s involved that can be tricky.

Don’t bother taking it. Pre-Calc is harder than calculus here. If you took it at a community college you should be fine with calc1. It’s really not a hard class at all.

As someone who earned a solid A in calc at UF, I would advise you to retake precalc if you feel unsteady about the prospect of calc. A lot of people do it, and I heard lots of students tend to benefit from the smooth transition.

a lot of people retake precalc? they dont get credit for it tho, do they? is they get a better grade?

If you feel unready for calculus, then trust me, you won’t do well at all. The majority of the class last semester utterly bombed the first test (and they all took calculus I before). My advice to you is to take precalculus, and then transition.

Better safe than sorry.
