Retaking SAT

First of all, don't think I'm bragging about my scores or anything like that. I actually have a legitimate question. Basically, I got a 2300 on the SAT (750 CR, 790 M, 760 W, 9 Essay) and a 36 on the ACT (36 E, 35 M, 36 R, 36 S, 10 Essay). Now, I know those are really good scores and I feel really lucky that I managed to get them. But, I come from a really competitive high school where a 2300 is just "good" and the ACT is for "dumb people." (I live on the East Coast) I definitely plan on sending both scores, because they're both good and for schools that don't accept score choice I need to send SAT Subject Tests. But I just have this nagging thought in my head that somehow the 2300 makes the 36 less impressive. I know colleges supposedly just convert the ACT score to the SAT score for comparison, but with my 2300 would they really consider my ACT equivalent to a 2400? I know it's irrational, but I can't help but wanting to retake the SAT for a slightly better score, especially on the essay. Is this just completely idiotic??? Thanks a bunch and I hope this doesn't sound pretentious!

Lose that thought. Spend some time on something more valuable than an SAT retake.

Ha ha I have the exact same scores, so I know that there’s a tiny thought in the back of my head that I should retake the 2300, especially because I didn’t study for the SAT. FORGET IT, A 36 is perfect, and a 2300 is near-perfect. Look at the 50th percentiles for the top schools. Retaking the 2300 will have absolutely no effect on whether or not you’re accepted or not, so move on, and be happy with your scores. Congratulations!

Out of the millions of people that take the ACT each year, only a few hundred get a 36. That’s simply incredible. Ignore what other people say

Go ahead and retake you SAT if you want to. Who knows, you might get that exclusive 2400.
