hey,
just wondering about people's opinion on whether or not it's a good idea to retake SAT IIs before transferring. I took all three SAT IIs on the same day (not a good idea...), was stupid and didn't study at all and got about 630, 670, 690. I think with some work I can pull them up to mid 700s. But will the fact that I took SAT IIs while in college look bad on my application??

How about SAT I or ACT?!

One would think that retaking the SATs wouldn't be that advantageous, since the test is meant for high school students, and most of us are one or two years into college. The other thing to consider is that the last month to take the old version of the SAT I is in like January, which doesn't allow for much study time.

yeah, not too great on the SAT either, I got a 1350 (pretty rotten at math). And I didn't take the ACT. Does anyone know if it would be better to just focus on raising my SAT score vs SAT II scores? Also, until college I never went to school and the SATs were basically the first tests I took. If I end up not be able to raise my math do you think schools might be more forgiving of the score?

i was under the impression that most schools do not require sat ii for transfer students... i certainly don't have any and do not plan to take any.

i honestly wouldn't bother w/ trying for higher sats, there's not enough time to get very well prepared. anisad: i also couldn't break a 1350 and i'm not trying any more. i don't think colleges consider sats too much for transfers anyway, i heard it was just used as an indicator for where you stood in high school

Depends on the schools to which you're applying.

As far as my situation, Brown, Stanford, Vassar, and Harvard either strongly recommend or require 3 SAT II scores to supplement an SAT I score if you don't submit an ACT.

oh! you're applying to Brown. I desperately want to apply to Brown but I don't know if I should even bother. Neither my SAT score or SAT II scores seem to be at the level where I can apply to there. And b/c Jan 22 is the last time I can take the SAT I don't know which to take: SAT or SATII? Do you have any suggestions?

Maybe you can retake your SAT I and then take the ACT in February?
