Retaking the SAT.. again..

Hey Harvard people! I just took the new SAT for the second time and I got a 1510  my superscore is now a 1530, and I’m pretty happy! Unfortunately, I just checked Harvard’s average and people online are saying it’s a 1540  I understand that one question is negligible in the longrun, and I wouldn’t even consider retaking the exam if it weren’t for the fact that I already paid for it!! I’m afraid that if I retake the test, my score will go down. A 780 on the math is practically an 800 (I honestly thought I got an 800) and a 750 on the reading could fluctuate based on the passages they give me. So here’s my dilemma: I’m going to fly down to Mass to see Harvard’s campus on December 1st. I’ll be getting back late at night on the 2nd, which is the night before my SAT. I might be too tired to give it 100% the next day, so I’m thinking about maybe just skipping the test and essentially throwing away 50 bucks.
Is a 1530 superscore good enough, or do I need to risk it and take the saturday test? Thanks so much!

If the rest of your application has what it takes, yes a 1530 is good enough. FWIW: a 1530 on the new SAT is equal to a 2230 on the old SAT (https://collegereadiness.collegeboard.org/pdf/higher-ed-brief-sat-concordance.pdf), so I wouldn’t bother retaking. I’d spend the time writing, editing, refining and polishing your essays instead.
