Hi everyone..my SAT scores were pretty average..around 1300ish on the old SAT..and I would like to know whether the Ivies like Yale and Harvard allow me to retake the SATs for me to improve my scores...I know that Stanford does...

definately do...but this new SAT deviates heavily from your conception of the SAT...so I'd recommend taking a course....I myself recommend Kaplan...it helped me alot more than the Princeton Review course, and I only finished 3/4 of the Kaplan Online....raised my score 100 points on the old SAT, and i have no doubt in my mind that if I'd have actually put my all in to it, I'dda been able to raise it MUCH higher.

does it look bad even if you re-take the SATs for transferring and do really well but had poor scores in high school?

I recently emailed the Chief Transfer admissions counselor at UVA regarding SAT scores and got the following response:

Thank you for your email.
Those scores are just fine for transfer admission. I would not retake the exam. We are looking mainly at your college work (grades and courses) in our review.

Best wishes,
Greg
