Retake SATs?

I'm currently a freshman at one of UCONN's regional campuses. I took the SATs early in my senior year and got:

790 M
690 CR
660 W (8 on Essay)

I didn't study for it at all, and wasn't well rested when I took it. I think with a little bit of effort I could do much better, especially on the critical reading and writing sections.

I think I'm going to apply next year for a transfer to a better school. As of right now I don't really have much to offer. I did pretty bad for my last 2 years of high school, and the classes I'm taking right now aren't extremly rigorous.

Is it worth it to retake the SATs if I plan on applying to high ranking schools like Columbia and Princeton? Or will the score not really matter by the time I apply to college for transfer?

In my opinion, with those scores, you should focus more on earning a high GPA (and taking rigorous courses). You're probably in the mid-range for most top schools, so it wouldn't make much sense to me.

Best of luck :)

"Is it worth it to retake the SATs if I plan on applying to high ranking schools like Columbia and Princeton?"

DEFINITELY RETAKE IT FOR PRINCETON!!!!!!

Princeton does not take transfer students.

shhhhhhhhhhh

Exceptions can be made for a person of distinguished birth and class, such as myself.

want to tell us about that? :P

I was joking around...

Although I'm pretty sure my father's side of the family has a [disgraced] legacy at Princeton. Whatever pety donations they make would not be able to get me in.

The next SAT is January 27, 2007.

If I decide to apply to schools for Fall 07' (NYU, UC, ect..) will I be able to get this score to them in time?

I think I can get above 700 in each section. If I can get a score above 2300, might it make up for my lack of extra-cirricular activties and good grades in high school?
