<p>what's the harm in retaking a 770 if you know 100 percent that you'll get 800? and getting a 770 is getting around 8-10 wrong. omitting one wrong and getting one wrong is 800. yea i agree with bluebayou on that last part.</p>
<p>The harm is that it is a waste of time and money that will not yield any gain in the admissions process. Yes, many (still only around 10-12%) of the people who take Math II get an 800. It is a very self-selected group of people. No college (not even MIT) will look at a 770 and think "Oh, that kid isn't that good at math compared to most of our applicants." No college will look at a 770 and then see an 800 and be more impressed because of the 800. I guess if you are desperate to get up at 6:30 on a Saturday morning for the chance to earn the extremely minor bragging rights than an 800 would afford you, then retaking would have some benefit. But as far as admissions? I'm sure that there is a class that the OP could be studying for--a better use of their time, at this point.</p>
