I am a senior in high school with a 3.9 GPA and a 1830 on the SAT. I know i am not that smart and most student need 2100+ to get into GA Tech. If I applied for a RETP college such as GA Southern or Georgia Perimeter and I get HOPE scholarships for these two colleges. When I transfer 2 years later, will I still get the scholarship?

ALSO WHAT IS A GOOD COLLEGE FOR RETP???? I lived near Johns Creek/Alpharetta area
Here is a list RETP schools according to GA tech websites
Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College
Albany State University
Armstrong Atlantic State University
Atlanta Metropolitan College
Clayton State University

As long as you maintain a 3.0 college GPA, you will still receive the HOPE scholarship. How it works is that when you apply to transfer to Tech, they will review your GPA at your RETP school and that will be your HOPE GPA that will determine if you’re elligible for the scholarship. Your institutional GPA will be reset since you’ll be transferring colleges.

As far as RETP colleges, I can only tell you about Armstrong since that was the RETP school I attended before transferring:

Armstrong’s a relatively small college (but not too small) located in historic Savannah, GA. The academics there are fairly challenging for most majors and there are a good deal of groups to get involved in whether it be student government, Greek life, academic honor society, etc. Plus the fact that the school is relatively small means that you will have a better time of getting in contact with your professors face-to-face, getting to know your classmates, and forming close knit relationships with others in interest groups. The cost is reasonable as well but as a fair warning the financial aid staff is EXTREMELY lazy and it will require you to stay on them 24/7 to make sure all your documents are processed and all your financial aid is received. Also, the area around Armstrong is amazing for social events on weekends. Armstrong’s located on Abercorn Street, one of Savannah’s busy streets and is located in between the Savannah Mall and the Oglethorpe Mall. There is a Kroger’s and Wal-Mart located within safe walking distance of the campus. Also, downtown Savannah is an amazing place to visit if you wanna escape the stress of the academics and Tybee island is about 30-45 minutes away from the school if you want to enjoy some beach time. If you’re interested in attending or need anymore information just let me know. I just glossed over the basics here lol
