Return of Deferral reversal

Hey guys, I could use some advice. I've been thinking of replacing my extra-long nonsensical princeton essay with a shorter one (~550 words). Should I send it to them with a letter requesting the original one to be swapped with the new one (and maybe make the original one an optional essay or something) ?

Cuz I'm already out of school and cant do much to improve my app. can't retake sat as i'm an intl.

Any more ideas?

I don't think it'll be a problem if you just say it's an additional essay. A lot of deferrals submit extra essays after they get deferred. Maybe not a lot of ppl do so but almost everyone I know who got deferred is.

Just send them your new essay. I doubt they'll switch the one you wrote to an "optional" one, but sending in another essay just gives them that much more reason to admit you. You'll help yourself as long as you don't go overboard or look like you're obsessing.

can't retake sat

Yes you can!! on Jan 22!!

btw I feel the only thing that got you deferred were the SAT's, so study hard and get that 1500+!!

Its too late to register though...Dec. 20 was the last day!!

Standby testing.

Huh???? That was confusing, or was it just me?!?!

If you miss the registration deadline, you can take the SAT standy by showing up to the test center. Usually, they order extra tests, so chances are you'll fill out a form and take the test along with everyone else. The only downside is a fee and perhaps not recieving your scores as quickly as others.

Hope that clarified it a bit.
See http://www.collegeboard.com/student/testing/sat/reg/circum/standby.html
for more info.

You can still register until Dec 29, without standby testing if there are still centers available in your area - I've late registered multiple times with no problem. I do live in a metropolitan area, though, so there are always places to go.

callthecops is an international. the dec 29 is for US citizens only.

cop, go for standby testing. chances are you can take the test.

There are no test centers in/near where I live. To retake the SAT I have to travel 1000 km to the capital of the country. It will be a funny moment when I travel overnight, reach the center and then they tell me they dont offer standby/dont have seats etc.... I'm just hoping for good ACT results. And btw, can internationals take the Jan SAT safely (will the scores reach on time?). Is standby available in India, and what's the fee/payment mode?

ANOTHER QUESTION: I submitted arts supplement along with the ED app, but after the oct 15 deadline, so it probably wasn't reviewed. Will they automatically do so now, or should I write to them / send an email?

Thanks :)

akash tested standby in nov, and i dont think his scores came later than a couple of hours after everyone else's

How goofy is it to send pictures with your apps? (my d was deferred....she wants to send the supplemental essay that she didn't send in the first place...i was wondering if photos would help or would she look like and idiot.

mommypain - curious...why a photo?
mercurysquad - some unis allow Jan SAT testing, some others don't, yet others accept provided you rush the scores. check with the unis/
