Should I resubmit my supplemental essay?

I sent out my Princeton app a few weeks ago. Recently, I opened the file of the final draft because I wanted to edit the essay to answer a prompt on another application and was shocked to discover a typo. I must have read that essay at least ten times over ... I have no idea how that slipped past both me and my college counselor. The mistake was "I looking" instead of "I looked" - I know, its pretty egregious. Since the deadline is not for a few more days, I'm considering resending the essay, this time the fixed version, with a note attached apologizing or something along those lines. Is this a good idea? Why or why not? Thanks in advance!

PS. This is urgent since I only have a few more days to resend!

Most college essay readers have a built-in edit function that corrects relatively minor errors (which I thinks yours is) as they read. I believe that they will see your error as "I'm looking," or something similarly fitting.

Resending your essay would merely call attention to your mistake. Trust me; the speed with which Ivy/elite admission readers blast through essays covers a multitude of small mistakes. If, heaven forbid, you are denied at Princeton, it certainly won't be due to this issue.

One final observation. My personal Law of the Admissions Jungle is: "Once it's sent, never look back." The mental stress of finding a post-mailing mistake is not worth it. We're all human (most of us, anyway). They know that, too, so don't freak out. You'll be fine.
