Returning to college to complete the required credits to graduate.

Hello CC Stony Brook people!

So I am writing in behalf of my sister. From my understanding, she did not graduate Stony Brook in four years because she didn't have the required amount of credits to graduate. Since then, she has taken two years off from college. This year she was planning to return to college (CUNY Hunter college) to finish her college education and graduate with a college diploma. However, because of some discrepancies with the college, my sister may not be taking classes there and may have to reapply for the spring semester or next year (or take classes in community college instead).

In any case, the question is: how many years can she take off from college before her college credits at Stony Brook become null (if at all)?
My parents don't want to have wasted four years of college costs and four years of her time and I'm sure neither does she.

Thanks a bunch in advance!!!

Hi nasturtium,

Your sister’s best bet would be to contact the Registrar’s Office at (631) 632-6175, as well as the Academic Advising Center at 631-632-7082 to discuss course work needed for completion of their degree requirements.

Below is the link to a portion of the Stony Brook Undergraduate Bulletin that further details some more information regarding returning to the university:

Best of luck!
