<p>Hello all!</p>

<p>I am a freshman Computer Engineering major at a college in PA. I am applying to an REU research internship at Penn for this upcoming summer. </p>

<p>Penn has been my dream school ever since I was in HS, so I will be applying as a transfer next year. I was wondering, if I get accepted to the REU program, will this help my chances of getting in as a transfer? </p>

<p>Don't get me wrong, I am applying because I am very much interested in learning about Robotics, but it was something I always wondered.</p>

<p>Any productive use of your summer will boost your transfer app. But there’s no magic where getting into one program at Penn helps you get into others. If the robotics program were at Cornell, it would have about the same effect on your Penn app. The big challenge for you is to crush your academic courses this year. What was your GPA first semester?</p>

<p>First semester was 3.67. This semester looks like I will get around 3.8-4.0.</p>
