Revelle HUM1; what if we don't get in?

There is only one really open section (and HUM is a graduation requirement). Even if some waitlisted students move to the open spots there will still be dozens left out in the cold. In the past has UCSD done something to accommodate, like open new sections?
I am #2 on the waitlist for the section I want (14 spaces). I was optimistic but then the hum department sent an email saying don't count on adding. When does HUM1 come around again?

HUM 1 is only offered winter quarter.

Aren’t there other open sections for other professors? It may not be with Caldwell or Edwards… but I actually took Chodorow for both HUM 1 & 2… he gives out a final study guide (: and none of the other profs do.

It seems there are only a grand total couple of spots open in any section. But there are a total of around 100 on waitlisted. So I wonder what happens to that many…and if it could happen that we all wait a full year.

I see 3 spots open right now…? Are you enrolled in one of them? I’d honestly take that 8 AM discussion over not taking HUM at all. I don’t recall any new discussions being opened for HUM at all. What’s there is all there will be, and take it if you want to take HUM. I’m sure some people will drop out though, cause they’ll realize that HUM is a lot more busy work than they can handle at the moment… but I wouldn’t rely on that.

Thanks Radiance!
I don’t want to beat this HUM thing to death, but in case it might help somebody I’ll give an update. I was #2 on the waitlist for a Caldwell section. I dropped that section and signed up for a less convenient time (also Caldwell) but as #1 on the waitlist. I called the HUM dept. and was told they will add all #1’s to the class in the next few days. Bingo!
I am not sure if this will be true for the other professors, but I notice that a few sections for another instructor have increased from 14 to 15 spaces over the past couple of days.
