i apologize in advance for being super lazy and not digging through older posts to figure out about this D:
but....how difficult is it to get from the rosehill campus into other parts of nyc, i.e. manhattan or brooklyn? /// is there a general price estimation for the travel involved? :'D thank youuuuuuu

My S is a junior at RH and we live in the area. There are many ways to get into different parts of NYC. Depending where my S is going, he uses different transportation options. A subway is the cheapest at $2.50 or so each way. I think he uses the subway most often because it can take you pretty much anywhere in the Bronx, Manhattan or the other boroughs. If you want to go to the upper west side, there is a van that goes between RH and the Lincoln Center campus (called the Ram Van) for I believe $3 each way. And if you want Midtown, the fastest way to go is Metro North but it is also the highest priced - depending on what time you are going (on or off peak) it is around $6 - $7 each way. My pricing may be a little off but it should give you a rough idea. Hope it helps.

So easy on the metro north. R/t $7. Walk out the gate near walsh library turn to your left and walk about 50 feet to the station. You can purchase ticket from vending machine or the attendant. Took about 20 minutes travel time to grand central off peak. I stayed at the Sofitel during president preview and walked to GC from hotel in about 10 minutes.

Oops turn to your right

I think the single ride is $2.50 now, but if you buy more than one ride, it is $2.25…

I am not too definite on that. I purchase an unlimited monthly pass every month ($104). But so worth it. (LC though)

I think from RH my S puts a certain amount of money on a MetroCard and replenishes it as needed.

The D-train and 4-train stops are right up the road from campus and they will take you along the east and west sides of Manhattan. About 20-40 minutes depending on where in Manhattan you want to go.

The Metro North stop is right next to the Library and that will take you directly to Grand Central Station (midtown - near times square, etc.) in 17-20 minutes. On the weekends, it’s $3.50, and on the weekdays it’s between $5-$7 depending on what time it is.

The Ram Van picks you up right outside of the Student Center on campus and drops you off at the Lincoln Center Campus entrance (near columbus circle and 59th street). It takes about 25 minutes to an hour depending on traffic (you will learn when it’s a good time to take the Ram van and when it’s not). If you have class or an internship/job, Fordham will pay for your tickets. Otherwise, it’s $3 one way.

happy1, azmomm, monoclide, and yenrod, thank you all so much!

I definitely think having a a metrocard or even an unlimited monthly pass might be worth it…though I should probably wait a little time and weigh out the workload/how much time I intend to spend exploring…overall, every single piece of information you have all so kindly given I intend to compile and keep as a future reference! I’m very glad it doesn’t seem terribly expensive or inconvenient.

again, thank you so much :]

Its not hard all you gotta do is hop on the subway.
It takes a bit of time though, depending on where you are going!
To brooklyn thats going to take a hell of a long time. Im from brooklyn with a cousing that lives in the bronx. Were talking a couple hours, and some transfers to buses and such.
To manhattan it takes less time…but can still be lengthy depending on what part of manhattan your going to. To manhattan expect to take about an hour total traveling.
