I just got accepted into Rho Lambda Honor Society, which is an honor society for Greek women.
I’ve tried to research but I can’t find anything other than what Rho Lambda says about themselves, so I’m looking to see if anyone else has opinions/experiences with this group.
I’m a little doubtful because they accepted me honestly. My GPA is barely over a 3.0
But people say it’s good resume building and you get special cords when you graduate. I do a lot of other things at my school (student media, an activist club, a religious club, and my sorority) but I don’t have any purely academic extracurriculars.
It’s $40 a semester.
What do y’all think? Worth it?
If you have to pay to join and you aren’t going to get actively involved in the society’s leadership, it’s not worth it.
My D has pitched at least 5 “honor society” invites.
I know there’s a lot of scam organizations out there, I’ve gotten invites from other ones and usually ignore them cause I figure they’re not that exclusive if they’re inviting me. I was only interested by this one because it was specifically for Greek women. I would try to get involved and meet other PHC women if I joined.
It might be worth mentioning too that I did have to apply for it, it’s not like they just sent me an acceptance letter. I was really, really surprised they accepted me though
Rho Lamda is a National Sorority Leadership Recognition Society,. This is not worth it.
Academic Honors societies such as Tau Beta Pi or Phi Beta Kappa are worth joining.
