Just to clarify. I believe that early action decisions will be received via post mail first, and those will be sent out on the 15th. I applied early action, not ED II. Scholarship symposum emails were supposed to go out today for those who relieved a phone call last week. However, as far as I know the scholarship symposium emails did not go out today.
Still no email. Starting to wonder what’s up…
Our S got an email this afternoon inviting him to participate in an admissions interactive phone conference on Thursday evening, the 15th. Given the timing–that is the day admissions for EA are to be announced–I can’t help but think this is a good sign…We will see.
Official emails are here! Looks like a fantastic day! I’m super excited for the St.Jude tour as that is the big thing really attracting me to Rhodes
I still haven’t received anything in my inbox. Perhaps this means I was rejected?
I feel very confused about the admit process. Rhodes says that decisions will go out Jan 15…and their Twitter feed says nothing about any decisions going out early. AT the same time, people here are saying that they’ve received emails saying that they’re in…yet others have said that a paper acceptance comes first and that’s followed up by an email.
Oy.
Most applicants will not be notified until the 15th. I believe the only people who have received an email already are the people who were also invited to the scholarship symposium.
So are we to assume that if an applicant has NOT heard yet, they are not being invited to the scholarship symposium? That could be, but that would be interesting to know for a fact.
It all seems a bit disorganized/random. Look at the email my S received, discussed in post 22. What is that about, the same day acceptances are due out?
@ColdinMinny I received the same email too! I wonder if it’s like an automatic email that will be sent to any applicant or does it mean something? I’m an international student and although I’m quite excited that they actually invite me to an interactive phone discussion, I’m also freaking out.
Cold and Evelynne, Have received nothing in our household or via email, phone, or mail, but regarding your question, ColdinMinny, I think the interactive phone discussion is likely a sales pitch. I have no insider information; however, I don’t see an admissions office discussing anything but the opportunities available to an admitted student on the day notifications are to be sent.
Dad, I agree. But I don’t see them conducting that after they reject or defer an applicant, do you?
ColdinMinny, I would think the conversation is with admitted students.
D received a recorded phone message this afternoon (no email) asking her to be available for the group chat with the admissions reps and current students tomorrow (15th) at 7:30 CST. This is the same group chat invite as others on this thread have received. Taking it as a good sign!
This is not something I’ve ever heard or read about from other college admission offices.
Hi, stopping in to say I think the interactive phone call is basically spam, trying to get more applicants before the RD deadline. My D got the call today (during class, kinda obnoxious, even I’m not allowed to call during school! ) and did not apply nor show any interest. I think she was on the mailing list maybe, that’s it. I’d say it has nothing to do with EA applicants.
Good luck to you all!
Thanks, 4kids. You would think the Rhodes admissions department would know who has applied already!
Hardly. My S is getting email and snail mail urging him to apply to schools to which he has already been accepted.
Once you are on the list, you stay on the list apparently.
Do you have to apply EA to be eligible for the scholarship symposium? I submitted my app at the end of December
Hi There! My name is Joey Thibeault, and I am an admission counselor here at Rhodes. I just wanted to clarify why you’ve received calls recently and when admission decision letters will be released. We are holding a phone cast tonight from 7:30-8:00pm central time which will give you all a chance to hear from a panel of current students and ask your own questions. If you received a missed call yesterday, 1/14, it was a reminder about tonight’s event. If you miss the call at 7:30pm, you can still be part of this event. Just call this toll-free number 888.411.5455 to join us. Early Action decision letters will be mailed out today. All admission decisions will be released by snail mail, so be on the look out!
thank you @Rhodeslynx I was just getting ready to send a note to your Twitter account to ask about this
And old-fashioned mail decisions rock! so that’s cool.
@rhodeslynx Thank you for the clarification!
