Rhodes VS U of Wisconsin

I have been accepted into Rhodes and University of Wisconsin. I am recieving 36K from Rhodes which would make the total cost per year only 16K. Wisconsin is not offering me anything right now but I think I will recieve some fincial aid. Wisconsin costs around 40K. Which I would be able to afford. I am looking for a rigorous classes but also to have fun. I’m am very interested in Greek life but also am interested in joining some democrat clubs and social activist clubs. I am worried about the lack of oppurtunities and majors (like nursing) at Rhodes but am also worried about huge classes at Wis. I am very school spirited and like sporting events. Partying does not bother me.

Rhodes college

Sure, Rhodes doesn’t have nursing, but I suspect some go onto graduate education in nursing and the college has really strong ties to area hospitals (and the medical school campus of UT is down the street…!). Classes are smaller and the faculty is really outstanding - and they care MOST about you as there are no graduate students. I also say Rhodes.

Wisconsin is a great school and is known nation-wide, but it is not worth $100k (over the 4 years in total) more than Rhodes. Your actual in-class education at Rhodes will likely be better than at a large university anyway, and the improvement in name-recognition for Wisconsin is not worth $100k in debt. Besides, 90% of that superior “name recognition” in reality only consists of knowing the Badgers from Big 10 sports, not from having an opinion on the academic quality of the institution.

Hi, I was also facing a similar dilemma a few days ago. Please see the link below:http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/college-search-selection/1989843-rhodes-college-vs-uw-madison-p1.html

A LOT of precious advice are given in that discussion!
