Oh yeah, I've also lived in Texas and Wyoming in 9th grade

why are you posting, you know you will get in, all your academic stuff is perfect, you just want an ego booster? on the other side, your EC's are pretty weak... so never know, they may just reject you

I totally agree with the above post reply. your extracurriculars show no depth. your academic stats are perfect but are completely 1 dimensional - Rice sees tons of apps like yours - if i were you, i would cross my fingers

It is probably a bit late, but you should consider doing community service work. I have to agree that you could be a little more well rounded. That said, you are from Idaho, and they definitely like representation from all states.

It totally depends on what school of Rice you're applying to. You look very solid, but don't consider it guaranteed-- Rice is really competitive, and they're fond of rejecting people with fabulous statistics. Violin won't help unless you're applying to Sheperd (in which case it's almost all that matters), but your degree of commitment (if it's high) might excuse your lack of other substantial involvments. Congratulations on all the perfect test scores. Wow.
Oh-- don't send a tape of your violin playing unless you're applying for music. They have an explicit rule against that, and you might annoy them if you ignored it.

Um, I'm not applying to Sheperd, but do please elaborate on this rule against cds/tapes. I thought that could be part of the "supplemental materials"... I can't seem to find this rule in the app or online.

Hmm. Well, on returning to the Rice website, I can't find that rule either. Perhaps I imagined it, though I'm pretty sure it's real. Sorry to mislead you.
At the same time, remember that Rice has no need to recruit musicians to its liberal arts programs.
Good luck with your application, with or without a tape!

I took a campus tour last summer and our tour guide said that Rice rejected almost 350 perfect SAT scorers last year. So it's the entire package that counts, not just test scores...
