rofl u right. im so scared though like idk if i rlly wanna know :; @lexilexi3
same but im just tired of waiting…really dislike the uncertainty.
seriously hope that I can know about my decision asap so i can decide whether or not to write my RD essays.
I have a gut feeling… the decision might come out today… idk… I’m so anxious
Ya same ngl^
Low. It hasn’t happened since 2011
What is QB? I’m sure it has been asked. Sorry for asking again…
Does anyone know when financial aid awards will be available once accepted?
so I’m applying for aid. Recently my grandparents agreed to grant me $6000 per year to pay for Rice’s tuition and fees if I get accepted. Do you guys thing I should email Rice about this change ( since I’m international student and Rice is need-aware for us.)
QB is Quest Bridge. One of my good friends got Rice ED through QB. Im gonna ask if he’s got his packet yet
@Domer97 – Questbridge, a scholarship program for low-income students that helps them apply for selective colleges like Rice.
I really hope financial aid stuff happens within a few days of acceptance because if i get in, which is a big if, i cannot afford Rice’s tuition without some sort of aid as their tuition is about 63k a year and thats almost as much as my family’s total yearly income. So yeah if i dont get aid, i’d have to decline ED
I assume that it’ll happen at least a week or so before the january 1st deposit deadline.
Also question: is anyone here a legacy?
tbh now thinking about it i doubt decisions will come today cuz apparently uchicago qb people got their packets last week but the early action ppl havent gotten their decisions yet, so qb ppl getting their packets doesnt guarantee anything
Anyone in here is also hoping to get financial aid if accepted? Is the subject taboo since almost nobody has commented about that? Can anyone in here afford the whole cost of attending? I know that I could not send my son to Rice if we don’t get considerable aid. I am counting on the less than 80,000 income clause.
^ I need aid to afford Rice too but unfortunately since I’m an international… that really puts me at a disadvantage
xer2022
Us too.
We need aid for it to work.
@Xer2022 For the class of 2020, around 22% of the students did not apply for financial aid. Presumably, they can afford full tuition and are paying full tuition In addition to these students, 35% of the class of 2020 applied for but did not receive any financial aid. Presumably, these students are paying full tuition as well. Based on these figures, approximately 50% of the people that applied ED can afford to attend Rice without any financial aid.
@Xer2022 – That’s why I’m really hoping he gets accepted. Our income is such that he qualifies for a Pell Grant, and the Net Price Calculator shows that financial aid should cover just about everything. There’s no way we could afford it otherwise.
So if my family makes around 25k a year, there’s a solid chance financial aid might cover the majority of expenses?
