Rice or Cornell?

Which one would be a better choice if my intended future major is medicine?

rice is ranked as the happiest students body. (for what that is worth…I ignore rankings like best school for this or that…but I found that one interesting)

Both a equally good academically for medicine so it’s really a question of fit. My personal bias is towards smaller schools because it’s easier to get to know the faculty for the committee letters, and I think smaller schools tend to have more cooperative, less cutthroat cultures. The impersonality of a large school tends to breed less cooperation between students. But that’s a broad generalization and someone who is pre-med at these schools would need to weigh in. And I’m weather sensitive - it’s is cold and dreary in upstate NY during the winter, much nicer in Houston.
The other critical factor is of course cost: If you have to go into significant debt to attend either one, then find another school entirely. Med schools are relatively prestige insensitive - it’s about grades and test scores so you want to be at the top of your class.

Have you looked into the Rice/Baylor medical scholars program?

No i haven’t. Do you mean that for graduate degree, universities would not care where you have attended and your class rank and grades are important?

Both schools are excellent and can get you wherever you want to go. Make your decision based on which atmosphere, size, location etc. you prefer. And if there is a big price differential that may be a factor as well.

Rice has the largest medical center in the world across the street. Ithaca has nothing on the same scale, and Cornell’s medical school is in NYC. You can get into medical school from either, but it’s something to consider if you’d like to volunteer/intern during the year.

Depends on what you’re looking for. You applied to both RD?

I don’t know which one to apply.which one has higher acceptance rate?

I have checked it and they are(acceptance rates) almost the same but with my scores which one do you think I have higher chance of being accepted?

Where are you from and what are your stats?

I was born and have lived seventeen years in Iran. I am high school senior in Tucson,AZ, with 4.00 GPA (weighted and unweighted) and sat 1850( math800,reading 520,writing 530) and ACT 26 (math32, reading 23, English 22, science 27).i am going to take two or 3 subject tests next month.

Rice has the Rice/Baylor program, extremely selective, but it probably goes a long way. Your SAT and/or ACT definitely need to be higher if you hope to get into either school.

It sounds like you have not got into either school and unless your standardized testing improves it is unlikely that you will. Wait until you find out where you get accepted to and then re-post. There is no need to consider this decision at this point in time.

How many Terms have you been enrolled in high school in the US? Is the 4.0 GPA only US-based? You SAT/ACT might pose a problem getting into Rice or Cornell.

One term but all my grades even in previous years were A as well as this term

@lili12345

Either way, your test scores need major improving

You don’t “major” in medicine. Both schools are HIGHLY selective and your deadlines are fast approaching. Those standardized test scores are, unfortunately, well below what you will need.

I would really appreciate it if you give me a hint about which acceptance rate (the lowest possible)would be nice to look for according to my scores.

Go for ASU or something similar

yes,Excuse me for the “major” part!
