I just got in! Check your emails now!

Yay…i got in too.

Accepted :).

Rejected :).

Accepted! Congratulations

Waitlisted, usually how big is the waitlist and what are the chances of being admitted from the waitlist?

*** rice, I know that you consider yourself a good school, but the following form the Wait list FAQ disgusts me.

“Your application received strong enough support from the Admission Committee to be approved for admission. However, Rice’s small size (only 940 new students) prevents us from admitting all such students.”

I by no means assumed that I was getting in, I’m just mad because Rice let in 2 kids from my school on a FULLY PAID football scholarship. Neither took a single AP or honors class, one recently had an illegitimate child, and each had an SAT score that was below 1900. So much so academics and character Rice, I guess I see where true your priorities lie now…

I don’t think the fact that the person cannot keep it in his pants should have any bearing over his admission decision.

Accepted!!!

but maybe the fact they “never took a single AP/honors class” is something to worry on. That is pretty upsetting IF that is true.

Accepted!!!

Rejected! Too bad, but I’m happy with my other options.

Congrats to all who got in.

My email said 13x more applications than spots. That means about a 7-8% acceptance. That’s nearing Ivy League.

Accepted.

@ nick. That same situation can be applied to many other prestigious institutions when it comes to athletics. It’s no secret that every school sets a double standard between academic notoriety and athletic success, so Rice is definitely not alone. Sure, your the better student academically, but the world is unfair.

I think they may be using the final class size rather than the admitted student number. There’s no way their acceptance rate went down that low.

From what I heard in January, Rice anticipated accepting 20% of students this year. I don’t know what the final acceptance rate, but I have a hunch it was close to that. So no, it is not close to the Ivy League rates. Rice accepts a lot more students than they have spots for since they know not everyone will attend (although this past year they overenrolled… yield rate was 37%).

Accepted yay!

Accepted…but I “do not qualify for need-based aid”? What the eff??? My EFC was $36,000. Total cost of attendance is $47,000.

Well, congrats to everyone else who got in. I have Northwestern, at least; hopefully one of you from the waitlist will take my spot!

I was waitlisted. Wutevs! I did find the Rice essay prompt difficult, not sure why.

Accepted! I am so excited!

accepted with a 15,800/year scholarship!! this just complicates my decision as I now have to choose between Tulane (40k/year scholarship) and Rice!! AHHHHHH
