@juan03233
I believe around 60-70 students? I’m not entirely sure.
I got in!!!
How many other people signed up for the interview on campus?
@juan03233 here is part of the email my daughter got:
“Thank you for applying to the SOAR Program. I am writing to let you know that the program has filled to capacity; so, unfortunately, we are not able to include you as a participant. We received over 1676 applications for 150 SOAR spaces. Keep in mind that this decision regarding your application to SOAR is distinct from Rice’s admission review process and should not be taken as an indication of your admissibility to Rice.”
I got in too!
I got in yesterday as well, and signed up for an interview. Do you all know if we get picked up from the airport?
Best of luck to everyone.
@MaybeHarvard2022 I submitted my application a week before the deadline, my stats are nothing major. 1380 SAT, top 5% of a class of 250, 3.8 GPA. I revived my acceptance email earlier this week. One of my friends letters said they had about 160 spots for about 1600 applicants.
@Joseht123 Congrats, yes they had 150 spots for 1676 people that applied (~8.9%).
Ok so I applied for the SOAR program and received an email confirming my application but I still didn’t get an email of acceptance or denial?? Did all the decision emails go out on one day, or is it still in the process of being sent out throughout the week?
@hopefullyoos2022 All decisions should have been released. You should contact them ASAP.
@hopefullyoos2022 Yoh may have been waitlisted. Rice is waiting to make final decisions based on who confirms and rejects their spots
There are no waitlists.
@MaybeHarvard2022 I sent an email a couple days ago and did not receive reply yet. Are you sure all decisions came out though because on the confirmation email, they did say that it shouldn’t come out later than sept 8th?
Do you guys think the effects from the Hurricane will effect the program?
Rice was not really touched by any of the floods.
Here is a good article about how Rice prepared for and reacted to the storm. The campus is in good shape and classes are resuming Tuesday. SOAR should not be affected. http://www.ricethresher.org/article/2017/09/rice-escapes-major-damage-due-to-preparations
In regards to the 99% admission rate for SOAR participants… a rep from Rice visited my school today and I told him I was attending SOAR and i asked him if it was a good estimate as to whether I would be accepted into Rice or not. He told me it had nothing to do with admittance and that it didn’t mean you would get into rice or that you wouldn’t… he also said they don’t consider whether you went to SOAR or not in the application process. I’m nervous… can anyone else verify that 99% statistic or has heard something like it? now i’m nervous that I won’t be accepted even though i’m attending soar
@divinew99 if you write excellent essays, get good letters of rec, and have fairly good stats you should get in. don’t put soar has the sole measure of acceptance.
Has anyone gotten emails besides info regarding flights? I find it weird we go in about two weeks and haven’t really had much communication with the college.
Someone from their office should have emailed you to arrange flights. I suggest you call or email them.
