Rice Supplement

Does anyone know Rice supplement prompt?

yep right here bud.

<a href=“Office of Admission | Rice University”>Office of Admission | Rice University;

That’s 2013, I think it needs to be 2014… For example Cornell http://admissions.cornell.edu/sites/default/files/2014%20Freshman%20Application%20Instructions_0.pdf</a> (Page 9)

So does anyone know the 2014 writing supplement prompt?

I just got an email saying it should be on the common application website late August or early September at the latest… But if anyone hears anything let me know :)

The supplement has been the same over the past few years, so I doubt anything will change on it for this year.

What was it in the years past?

Exactly the same as what you linked to

Funny… Rice is changing their supplements as we speak. My daughter wrote up the response yesterday and then today it disappeared!

Yes, you are right. This morning two of Rice’s supplement questions fell off of the common application. Now they are back! :)

Did they get rid of the past long essay about bringing diversity to the residential house system? (I don’t see it on the common app writing supplement page but maybe I missed it.)

It’s still there (unfortunately). It’s the last one on the list. Right before “the box”

Weird, I’m not seeing it. I see the following:

Please briefly elaborate on one of your extracurricular activities or work experiences. (150 word limit)

With the understanding that the choice of academic school you indicated is not binding, explain why you are applying to that particular school of study. (150 word limit)

If you have applied or expect to apply to other colleges or universities this year, please name them. (50 word limit)

What motivated you to apply to Rice University? (200 word limit)

In keeping with Rice’s long-standing tradition (known as “The Box”), please upload an image of something that appeals to you.

By typing my name in the space provided, I certify that I will, if admitted, abide by and support the Honor System at Rice University.

And that is all. Maybe I’m on the wrong page? Or mine is a glitch?

I believe everyone will have different questions after the following statement (which is after What motivated you to apply to Rice U? and before the Box):

The Committee on Admission is interested in getting to know each candidate as well as possible through the application process. The following essay question is designed to demonstrate your writing skills and facilitate our full appreciation of your unique perspective. Please respond to each of the following prompts.

These questions will depend on what you selected as your major. Also, if you didn’t get the above, it may appear another time. My daughter’s fell off and then came back. Hope this helps.

The essay prompt showed up after I finished the questions section (selecting my major).

Too bad, I definitely got my own hopes up! At least there is a 500 word limit now, rather than a given average of 2-3 pages…

comparing what hville 7 transcribed it looks the same as this: <a href=“Office of Admission | Rice University”>Office of Admission | Rice University;
Is that the case or are there some differences? And do essay Q’s look the same, anyone who has already accessed the supplement through the CA?

honeybee63, its the same thing. The only difference is that the CA now states that the essay should be under 500 words rather than 2-3 pages.

Thanks FLstudent, that’s a big help! GL to you if you’re applying :)

All of the links you guys have submitted in this thread give a 404 :confused: Does anybody have a working link? Or, can someone just copy/paste the prompts?

@aaronfranke, this thread is from 2013. You probably won’t get a response from prior posters.
