Rice University Regular Decision Class of 2025

I know! Generally, when waivers aren’t approved however they email the student indicating they need the non custodial parent to fill out the CSS profile

even when the non custodial parent fills out the CSS profile, this still does not guarantee approval…

Well obviously since most applicants have the non custodial parent fill it out.

The point is that Rice is a school that sends your financial aid offer with your acceptance.
To do that the package needs to be complete… so if a student requested a waiver and it is not approved by now and they haven’t received an email requesting for them to get the non custodial parent profile filled out… that doesn’t indicate good news

Keep the hope up. Will be checking in tomorrow. WL’d at VU as well.

What happened at Berkley?

They mean to say that the strength of the CS program has nothing to do with portals because portal astrology worked with berkeley

god damn this cycle is brutal. I’ve been rejected by Stanford, JHU, UCLA, UCB, Vandy, and Washu. Rice is like my last hope ;(

Wow, that’s a lot of good schools. What major are you applying. Must be incredibly hard one.

Hope you have targets and safeties. Those are reaches for the best of students.

except for Standford, which I didn’t apply to, I got rejected from all the rest lol

Nope. the financial aid and admissions offices work separately

yeah, I got into umich so I don’t have to sorry about that.

ahaha it might very well be. Bioengineering

Can anyone else see their entire financial aid package in their portal?

Yep. Bioengineering is one of the hardest beside CS.

May not be appropriate to talk about. But what is the racism situation in Houston? Rice being in Texas, and Rep. Chip Roy representing Texas, my wife is now uneasy about sending our son to Texas even if he gets in.

isnt houston pretty liberal?

What do you mean by entire financial aid package?

like the scholarships, grants, work study theyre gonna give me for cost of attendance

SWAT is very different from most of the schools on your son’s list. Curious how he came to be interested in it? LAC/ Engineering?
What is interesting though, is how similar SWAT and Rice students are (in my experience). Owls are much more balanced as far as I can tell, though.
Son-Deferred and hoping and praying for Rice, Accepted at SWAT, and only waiting on 1 Ivy ( the smaller quirkier one of course
