<p>No, I think Rice is more prestigious; but it depends on what you plan on studying.</p>
<p>Although Rice is an incredible school, Williams is the more prestigious of the two.</p>
<p>Regarding what appears to be that Rice has a smaller Math department, some of the highest ranked math departments in the country consist of about as many Math students as Rice.</p>
<p>Nobody knows what Williams is where I’m from, but they do know about Rice… so I’d say that you’re wrong about which is more prestigious. Math at Rice is strong; you should contact a professor to learn more about it.</p>

<p>I’d never heard of either school two years ago before we started my son’s college search. Both schools are powerhouses in their respective regions, but are not well known everywhere in the country by the average person on the street. Grad schools and hiring managers will be familiar with both these schools, however, and that’s what counts.</p>
