I'm looking to major in either education or the subject that i want to teach and then master in education, possibly go into Business. I'm a bit confused as to which of the two schools above would serve me well when it comes to my major and life in general. Which is a better school and which will add more to my life? My boyfriend currently goes to Rutgers and loves it but i have yet to visit. Ive seen Rider and really liked it so im really torn. Any help would be great :] Thanks!!!

Rutgers is more selective than Rider, costs less (assuming you are instate NJ), and has better graduation rates. It is also much larger than Rider.

If your stats are strong enough, also consider TCNJ. Education is a particularly popular major there, and it is a similar size to Rider, and is quite nearby.

TCNJ and Rider have a similar campus “feel” to me; Rutgers is very different given the size of both student population and spread of the buildings.

If you want to work toward high school certification, at TCNJ you’d major in the subject area you’d want to teach with additional coursework in the school of education. In my school you can major in English, History, or Spanish and get high school certification in NJ through TCNJ’s School of Education. I encourage you to look at TCNJ if you are interested in a smaller school experience. Our average class size is about 18 students and our larger classes in my school within TCNJ are capped at 34 students. See [School of Culture & Society :: The College of New Jersey](TCNJ | School of Humanities and Social Sciences) for more information.

You can also get high school certification at TCNJ in the sciences, economics, and art - but those disciplines are housed in other schools within TCNJ (School of Science or Engineering, School of Business, School of the Arts and Communication, respectively).
