I know TCNJ was historically a teachers' college, is there a high population of teaching hopefuls still present today? How do you feel about the program? I would want to either teach English or history, or maybe both, how would I do this; major (or double major) in the teaching subject, then minor in education, take the praxis, get a student teaching job, apply to schools? I want to teach high school. I would also like to do a 5yrs master program how does that work? Would I master in my subject... or education? What looks the best to NJ schools who would be hiring me? (I would be teaching high school in NJ also.)

From personal experience, how do people like the college in general? Is it reputable? I heard it was one of the "cheap ivy" sort of schools, is this correct?

Thank you!

My girlfriend is currently on the track towards becoming a teacher, she is an Elementary Education and Math/Science/Technology(MST) double major. I am pretty sure a double major is required because you’ll be majoring in your desired lvl of education plus your subject. Obviously you can minor in things also, but the classwork can be pretty intensive.

As far as people liking the college, it is very reputable in NJ, slightly less so (but still recognized) in the tri-state area. Everyone that knows enough about it knows that its a good school, and everyone here likes it pretty much. I’ve seen a bunch of other public schools when I was touring colleges last year and this school has a much more “private” feel. If no one said anything I doubt you would notice the difference. The campus for one, is beautiful, and they are always adding buildings and stuff so thats cool.

I know I didn’t answer all of your questions but I hope this was helpful!
