Rigor of courses - Succcessful CC Transfers?

Can anybody who has successfully transferred to a "good" school from a CC let me know what types of courses you took/GPA? I'm considering taking on "honors" classes this semester but I do not know if the harder courses are worth the drop in GPA. Would you recommend higher GPA + normal classes or honors classes + lower GPA? Thank you.

You may want to ask to look at a syllabus from the course. The honors courses at my school aren’t very different from the normal course, there is an extra research paper, and the grading is a little more strict, but the main focus is on smaller class size and the ability that provides in more intellectual discussion during class.

Honor Classes always look better than normal classes. Like the previous post pointed out, its nothing but an extra paper. Therefore, I highly advice you to take on the sacrifice. I will be worth it.

I took regular classes geared towards a Liberal Arts degree at a community college. My GPA as it stands is 3.6, and over the summer was accepted into ΦΘΚ (Phi Theta Kappa), the Honors Society for community colleges. I’ve been accepted to Stony Brook University for the Spring '10 semester. I did not take Honors courses at the community college.
