i go to a really hard college preparatory high school and i dont have straight A's. sometimes i think, "if i went to my neighborhood high school, i would have straight A's and a perfect gpa." which is true, i would. am i being dumb about it? or would colleges not really look into the school? good grades at super easy school or okay grades at very rigorous magnet school?

Go see your college counselor and ask about typical outcomes for students with your grades. If your high school has Naviance, you can compare your GPA and predicted scores against the results of students from your school over the past few years.

Easy. All you need is close to perfect SAT scores to undo poor grades at a tough school. Add lackluster scores and your result will the same as if you had gone to an easy public school. At least, your better education should help get those high scores. If not for decent punctuation.
