I noticed on Brown’s website that students can take classes at RISD while enrolled at Brown, but can a Brown student take classes at RISD and later deside to double major at both Brown and RISD? On RISD’s website, it says that students can earn both a BFA from RISD and a BA from Brown at the same time. Does this work for students just accepted to Brown?

It appears you’re looking at the Dual Degree Program. To do this, you must apply specifically for the dual degree program and be accepted by both schools during the admissions process, it seems.

Please note that this is a very competitive program, if you’re interested.

There is a program that you apply to called the Brown-RISD Dual Degree program - you apply to both schools and fill out an extra supplement, and end up spending 5 years to earn a degree at each school. Alternatively, you can go to one school and take classes at another, but as far as I know you cannot earn a degree this way unless you transfer.

However, I do know people who take ~1 RISD class/semester and/or an extra one during RISD’s winter term. But yeah, the dual degree program is incredibly competitive to get into, so you probably couldn’t get a degree from RISD too (although Brown students have in the past by transferring between the two schools: but this was prior to the dual-degree program).

Thanks a lot. I am applying as a transfer to Brown so I wasn’t holding my breath anyway.
