RIT's Art Program?

I'm very interested in RIT'd illustration program and I was wondering if anyone had any experience with the program. My current college isn't challenging me enough, that's the biggest problem.

My son graduated from RIT as an illustration major last spring, and he loved the program. I get the impression that there are all kinds of opportunities to challenge yourself there if that’s what you want. Do you have any specific questions?

My daughter is considering RIT’s illustration program. Can you share with me your son’s experience at RIT and where he is working? Do they have a COOP program for illustration majors? Thank you.

Sorry to be so long in responding. I haven’t looked at this thread for a while. I don’t know how things are now, but when my son was at RIT there weren’t any co-ops for illustration majors. He visited the relevant office to find out about possibilities for summer internships, but beyond providing advice on how to go about looking for one, they didn’t seem to offer a lot of resources.

He enjoyed the illustration program at RIT very much. In addition to his course work, I think he learned a lot while working as a staff illustrator on the weekly student magazine. These days, he’s trying to figure out how to launch a freelance career. So he’s been doing a series of subsistence jobs (entry-level graphic designer, working in an art supply store, working in a cafe, possibly drawing caricatures at an amusement park this summer) to support himself while learning how to market himself as an illustrator.

My Daughter was accepted into the Fine Arts Studio program for Fall 2013. Anyone else accepted? What sold you on this program and what other schools did you consider. Trying to narrow down options!!!
