Robbery

How safe is it usually to bring say...an HD TV and a playstation 3 to your dorm?

(total value about $1200)

i have a 38" HDTV, and nobody stole it. Although I would say look an eye out for your controllers

As long as you're not stupid about things, you won't have anything stolen. Lock your door when you or your roommate's not in the room and when you go to bed. That's about all there is to it.

One of my friends brought a 30-something-inch plasma TV, an XBox 360, and a PS3 among other things. I know someone else who brought his whole collection of movies worth probably in the vicinity of $1000. I've never heard of those things being stolen.

Son and roommate had their 40" HD, PS2, 50 DVDs, laptop stolen from their dorm room when they were away on Spring Break (lacrosse team spring training in VA)...doors and windows were locked.

We figured it had to be an "inside job". So, just be smart and make sure you have replacement coverage insurance in case it happens to you.

Where is your school located?
Are you living in a dorm (which you suggested) or an apartment?
Who has access to the building?
Do you trust your roommate? (If you don't, there's a bigger problem than worrying about your TV)
DO YOU LOCK YOUR DOORS EVERY TIME YOU LEAVE THE ROOM?

My roommate and I never locked our doors when we left our rooms for hours at a time, and nothing got stolen. We lived in a secure dorm in the middle of campus so your answers to the questions above should give you an idea of how secure you are.

It's really not that safe. I was walking down my hall, and someone had their door wide open. They had an ipod sitting on their mini fridge and I swiped it. Less than 10 seconds, they couldve been in the bathroom or something

dude did you just admit to stealing? why would you even do that...

dude, I think he's a thief!

my boyfriend and his roommate had a ton of expensive stuff (HDTV, playstation 3, wii, nice speakers, two laptops, several external hard drives & other computer things i don't understand, mp3 players, guitars, lots of weed, etc.). they just remembered to lock the door whenever they left.
they didn't lock it at night, though, which i personally would have done.

Why would I steal the ipod?
it was only a few steps into the room. got 50 bucks for it

Just be smart about it and make sure that your insurance covers it.

why would you steal the ipod? well, apparently for the money that you earned.

^he kinda has a few questionable posts that almost might lead someone to believe he is a troll.

^ she has some posts that definitely lead everyone to believe oklahoma sucks

Rofllmao .

i am laughing so hard now

oh and i would agree that some of his posts are a little sketchy

OK well im going to go ahead and buy a $1,000 tv from Best Buy with being bale to bring it to college in mind.

Lock the doors...sounds simple enough

I was wondering the same thing, as i just bought a HDtv and was thinking of taking it.

I figure since I'll get mugged on campus. What's the difference? I didn't pay for the flat screen...
