Woo-Hoo. I made the second round. I got an email today notifying me that I was named one of the ninety finalists that will now travel to Duke and UNC Chapel Hill for the Robertson Scholars Weekend.

Now comes the final interviews. From 90 sixty are cut and only 30 are named Robertson Scholars.

Congrats! I got the same email. Can't wait to get that package tomorrow + get all the info.

I guess my theory was right after all. I guess they must have a glitch in their system that notifies people on their homepage log in screen before they send out notices. Maybe we are their top candidates? Who really knows.

How were you guys selected? What did it take?

Seven Nights-Don't you think it's weird how they tell us to log onto the site with a generic username, when we have our own usernames made?

Privatejoker-Check out the info at http://www.robertsonscholars.org The semifinalists are drawn from the all Duke/UNC applicants.

But here's my question justforgetme remember how the finalist forum page was available to us a few days ago. Why did we know a few good days prior to us being told via email? That's food for thought.

That's quite the question. Maybe after we find out if we win it or not, we should email them about it. With the whole Biz School craziness, I'm afraid to do it beforehand.

Hey everybody!

I saw this thread mentioned in the UNC forum and thought I'd come over to meet some of the people I'll see during finalist weekend.

I was in a minor state of purgatory for the few days after the phone interview until I got an email saying I was a finalist.

From the looks of it, it seemed like they used the phone interview to eliminate the people who didn't really want it (i.e. hadn't thought about the program from when they got the letter until the interview.)

I'm assuming this because they took more finalists than they originally said (90 vs. 80) and the interview were very general things that wouldn't allow the interviewer to get to know the person that well (at least for the UNC semifinalists, all the questions were general and there were no follow-ups), but would allow the interviewer to see if the person was just BSing.

Anyway, I had one question: does anyone know if people not getting the Robertson (there's still only a 1-in-3 chance after all) are considered for other merit scholarships.

Basically, I'm wondering if the various scholarship committees coordinate. For instance, if someone was the Robertson committee's 31st choice, will the Robertson people pass along the person's name to say the William Richardson Davie Scholarship Committee?

Anyway, the program sounds wonderful and I really hope I get one of the 30 scholarships.

See y'all in April.

/Wookiee

"does anyone know if people not getting the Robertson (there's still only a 1-in-3 chance after all) are considered for other merit scholarships?"

I'm pretty sure for Duke that if you don't get the Robertson, you get nothing (finalists have already been decided for the 3 or 4 other scholarship programs). UNC could be different though.

See you April 2nd!

Hey guys, i'm a Robertson Finalist too. Hope to see you all there in early April. Seven Nights or justforgetme, do your packets tell you the specific times for the interviews? It says "times are listed in the front of your information packet" but I don't see anything.

Yeah, I think we'll get a new schedule when we get there that will have our interview times. The one they FedEx'd us said DRAFT on it.

It said that they will mail us with more information later. I think they will FedEx more information prior to the weekend. I think a few days after the deadlines have transpired.

thanks for posting that, i know a couple of those kids
