^UR apparently only requires IDOC for certain applicants, I would assume college board charges colleges for the # of applicants that use it, so they wait before asking everyone
IDOC is a website for uploading financial information the school requests. They contacted my daughter via email with info and instructions. So they will probably contact you at the time it’s needed.
Been on step 3 for greater than a month
About two weeks ago myROC went from steps 2-4 within the Tuesday-Thursday of that week. But it hasn’t moved to step 5 yet.
@jaredstone4, when did you apply?
@jamesjunkers I submitted the Common App last week of December but didn’t submit the supplement until Jan 5th.
Okay, thanks
Wait, someone on the last page said that receiving an email about a Scholars program is a good sign that might mean you’ve been accepted. I received an email from the Simon Scholars Case Competition asking me to join (which I did, but was denied from the competition.) Do you think they send that to everyone or only to students that they’re seriously considering/have already been unknowingly accepted.
There’s a chance it may be separate - some schools (Idk about UR) do admissions and scholarships separately.
I don’t think the invitation to Simon’s Scholars means anything definitive. I am assuming they don’t send it to everyone, so it’s a nice invitation to get. But, you have to wait for a real result like everyone else : )
Still confused about RD decisions. Twitter says they were mailed Friday, but I’m still on step 4 and I applied way back in October. Does this mean I’m not getting my decision this week? Also wondering how the east coast weather will impact mailing.
@rippedfishnets Mail is still operating on the east coast. I think the only thing that could be affected is local delivery if there is another massive snowstorm. Also, Monday was a holiday, so no mail operating that day. And, it’s possible the envelopes were not sent Friday. They might have been mailed Saturday or yesterday. Who knows?
Last night, my daughter said she wished they would just email results since it’s faster. However, seeing what happened at Carnegie Mellon, I can understand why U of R does it the old-fashioned way.
Thanks for the response @VMT. I agree that mailing is probably safer because there’s a lesser chance of messing up, but it’s also nerve wracking due to how long it takes. Knowing your decision is ready, almost to you, but you just can’t know it yet, really eats at me. I’m not too confident with my decision as of now. I didn’t interview, and it was the first college essay that I wrote, so it wasn’t the best. Everything else is fine, but I know how much Rochester loves that interview.
Last year students received their mail on the 18th. Lets hope that today is the day!
But I’m in a similar boat as @rippedfishnets, though I did the interview (and made sure that they knew Rochester was my first choice and dream school, lol.) I’m naturally worrisome as it is. I just hope that I get my decision before I visit Case Western on Friday so if I get denied I can try to weasel some more money out of them since Case is my second choice school.
Dumb question time! Does Rochester waitlist, and if so do they actually accept some students off of it?
@minohi they do! Last year there were 2660 waitlists, which is about 15%. 750 accepted a place on the waitlist and 21 were offered admission. It’s a small number, but I think it varies noticeably from year to year.
Hm, sounds to me like the 21 that got accepted must have shown a lot of interest or something to make them stand out from the rest. Hopefully I won’t even have to worry about this, but if I do get waitlisted, I’ll have to demonstrate some serious interest if I want to be accepted.
Thanks for the info!! ^^
Has anyone received a decision yet…?
Because I saw someone tweeted this to URAdmissions,
, and there response did not deny this:
That person could be referring to ED applicants having heard back. I’m interested to see if any RD applicants got their decision yet. The mail comes in a few hours here, so I’ll keep you posted if I hear anything!
If you receive a decision, please post when you submitted your app!!

Nothing in the mail today in eastern NY State. However, my daughter’s status is still on Step 4, and has been there for a while. She isn’t expecting anything in the mail until it moves to Step 5.
