I am currently a junior in high school and really like Rochester. It seems like a good school for me, and I believe that my gpa, sat, etc. are good enough for acceptance, or I hope. I was just wondering about what anyone's views on Rochester are? What you like about it? etc? Thanks so much for any personal experience or experience. have a wonderful night.

It's like the safety school for potential ivy league-ers

Many people don't know about the school...
for me, when I said that I am applying to Rochester,
everyone around me was like isn't that a state school??
I really like the school, I like the small size of student body and its curriculum..

My impression is that two kinds of kids apply to UR. The first were already mentioned: the ivy-league applicant who needs an excellent fall-back option.

I know a few kids who are of the other type: kids who are ivy material, but for some reason aren't sucked into the ivy hype, and see UR for what it is: a great school. Newsweek in fact, last year, selected UR as one of 25 "new ivies": schools just as good as ivies, but not as well known.

If you're from New England, the school most like UR is Tufts. They are very similar (big hospital/med school, 4000 undergrads, similar SAT stats, vet school offsite for Tufts, music school offsite for UR)
