Hi folks,
I want ask you is that "Rocket Review' a worthwhile purchasement or the value of the book is highly exaggerated (its rating in amazon.com is about 4). I mean, since the book has only 1 practice test, what are the other 650 pages filled with ????? Will it really help me raise my score or it's just another book full of futile strategies and explanations. I'm having the hardest time to decide between Kaplan, Princeton Review and maybe Rocket review...
What will you say ?

I'd say Rocket Review over PR or Kaplan. Haven't used any of them though. I hear grammatix is good.

exrunner, what did you use in your preparation ??

Just bought Rocket Review today at Barnes and Noble in OKC. The best tip I've read from is it to spend more time reading the questions in CR than the actual passage, as that's where most errors come from. It recommends studying vocabulary in an obsessively doctrinaire fashion, which is something I rarely hear test prep companies urging their students to do (at least the stuff I've studied from). So far so good, but nothing extraordinary. I havn't tested out everything this book has to offer and I certainly havn't finished reading even 10% of it, but if anything great pops up I'll definitely give some input. Any other comments on this book?

I've been using their method for CR and Writing and now I'm showing improvement. I skim passages and spend a lot more time on the questions.

My original CR: 580
Practice tests have been showing 690+
Hopefully 700+ for the real

Good luck robotFOOD, your hard work is showing to pay off!

Thanks, and you too.

lets rock these collegeboard fools :D

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0451213114/qid=1120295760/sr=8-1/ref=pd_bbs_ur_1/103-2891060-4179062?v=glance&s=books&n=507846 It's really cheap right now on Amazon....it's generally $29.95 and they have it for $11.98. Should I buy now, even though I probably won't take the SAT for a few years?

Note: New RocketReview coming out September 6th-- http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/045121644X/qid=1120296764/sr=1-15/ref=sr_1_15/103-2891060-4179062?v=glance&s=books

yeah i bought mine on amazon for 12 dollars. honestly, you don't really need rocket review, but if you want it, go for it. the "strategies" are common sense and the best/truest way to gain points is through practice

Wow, I spent 29.95$ at a barnes and noble store when I could of spend 12$ on amazon online.

I only used about half of the CB blue book. But if I hadn't ben satisfied or wanted more, I probably would've gotten grammatix.

Wait - what is the CB Blue book and what is the CB Red book? Please define; I think the blue book is the OFFICIAL SAT Study Guide right? Thanks! :D

The blue book is the official new SAT study guide. The red book is the official OLD SAT study guide. The blue one is what you want. One of the books that have solutions for that book would help such as the CB online course, grammatix, or the testmasters book.
