My kid applied before the Nov. 1 deadline. Has anyone heard from NC yet?

My son hasn’t heard, either. They are deliberately coy about the timeline for notifications, but I thought they might start sending out acceptances now.

I applied in early October, and still haven’t heard anything back yet.

I checked out New College’s Facebook page. They posted several days ago that they plan to begin sending out notifications in mid-January.

Booooooo. Which New College Facebook page? The Admissions page? My kid had earlier received an email that said she would get a response around December 20. She did make the pre-Nov 1 deadline for “preferred admissions,” whatever that means.

My son applied by that same priority deadline. It was the simple “New College of Florida” page. This notification was posted on December 11th: "Thanks to all those that have completed applications so far! The Office of Admissions & Financial Aid will start releasing decisions for the fall class in mid-January with decisions being released weekly after that through April.

For those that haven’t applied yet we encourage you to complete your application soon while we have the most space and funding available."

We had hoped to hear by Christmas, also. Maybe a few announcements will go out before then, with most coming after their break . . . or not. My son submitted his application in October, but I never saw an e-mail specifying a timeline for notifications. I thought they were deliberately cagey about that. He has already been accepted at three colleges, and so we are not completely beside ourselves.

Well, I’m glad to know that, so we can stop being a slave to the mail, for that result anyway. It’s odd, I see twelve million Facebook pages that start “New College of Florida,” but nothing simply named that.

I got an email from the transfer counselor today saying I was rejected. It’s a good thing, really, because I start at UF in five days. I’ve never heard of a college taking so long to make a decision.

I wanted to “bump” this thread. Has anybody heard yet? The New College Facebook page (not the closed “Admissions” page) posted “It’s decision time - start checking your mailboxes,” and so I infer that an initial round of notifications have been mailed.

Yeah, I think they posted that on Wednesday, but the mailbox has been empty. Nothing today. (Friday). Anyone else? They are teasing us.

My girlfriend and I got ours today. Waiting to hear from another friend who applied as well. I’m real excited, good luck to all of you!

Since you’ve heard, I’m wondering when you applied and if that makes a difference. My kid applied just before the Nov 1 deadline.

I applied mid-October, so that might have had an effect.

Still nothing.

Redpoint - I think I remember you from last year when my daughter was applying to ncf, you went there as well? I think ? D loves it, is doing her ISP now. Thanks for the help last year, good luck to your daughter, I’m sure going through all the apps is tough there since admissions is such a small office. I bet she will hear very soon, looks like packages are going out [New College Admissions](http://newcollegeadmissions.■■■■■■■■■■)

Thanks. I’m so glad she’s happy, orange!

It’s been a week and a half, and still nothing. Tempted to call. Don’t want to be annoying, but this is strange, and they originally promised mid-December.

My son was surprised when nothing came last week. The NCF Facebook page has a post stating that 150 notifications were mailed out on January 15th, and another 85 went out this Wednesday (1/22). They will be sending out notices each week until April. My son applied by the priority deadline, and we’re disappointed that he hasn’t heard yet. Does anybody know whether they send out notices to Florida residents first? We are from out of state.

We are out of state, too. That could be it. I actually broke down and called them today. They said the people who made the priority deadline wouldn’t necessarily be hearing first, but would get first consideration for admission, ie., a leg up. Hmmm? They said they hadn’t processed my D’s application yet, so she won’t be in the second batch.

I asked my son’s college adviser about her past experiences with NCF, to see whether she had any insights into their notification process and timetable. She said that she had just received an e-mail from an admissions counselor at NCF, thanking her for recommending my son and saying that “they were looking forward to reviewing his application.” I thought they might have been doing that in the past three months, but what do I know? I hope this means that we will be hearing soon.
