So 2 questions:

1) Is Mcgill Rolling Admission?

2) If so when would be the ideal time to submit the app (faculty of science) before space fills up?

If you are applying for the winter term then I’d say hurry up and do it now, you might even be late
If you’re applying for the fall term then you can apply now if you want but it’s still early you have till Jan 15 (ideally i’d say applying from now till mid December would be good)

@ Maya1057 Thanks!

Here are the deadlines, they vary by country of origin:
http://www.mcgill.ca/applying/admissionsguide/2015-16

Decisions are not released until at least a month after the deadlines and come out randomly.

@tomofboston One thing I forgot to mention is that I am an American citizen but I will receive my French citizenship around December. Mcgill said that I would pay the price of a Quebec citizen.

One thing I’m confused on is:

A) Do I still apply as an American?

B) Will spots fill up by December if I apply as an American?

Also, what does Mcgill mean when they say A- or B+ average in grades 10-12?

Do they use W or UW and differentiate AP vs non AP?

If you are graduating from an American high school, you apply as an American. If admitted, you would pay the French citizen tuition rate i. e. the Quebec tuition rate.

They use the UW GPA.

@tomofbostom Will spots fill up by December?

It doesn’t work that way. All applications are considered after the deadline. McGill does not have American style rolling admissions. It is just that there is no single decision date like some US schools have.

How sure are you on this? I remember reading on their website (cannot remember where- it’s a labyrinth) that program space is subject to availability.

I interpreted this as the sooner you apply the better.

It means that having the minimum requirements does not guarantee acceptance.

@purified I totally understand where you are coming from because it is confusing. via the link provided by tomofboston, in the “Application Procedures” page (which is general information not specific to any geo-region), it clearly says; “It is in the interest of all applicants to complete their files as quickly as possible. Should a program reach its capacity prior to the deadline for submission of documents, incomplete applications may be cancelled.” I don’t think there’s anything ambiguous about that; however, we were told directly by an admissions person that they need as much 12th grade information as possible and therefore we should not submit the application materials until January. The completed application and fee payments have to be completed prior to any supporting documentation being sent to McGill. If anything is reaches them (SATs, ACTs, transcripts) before the app and fees are in place, then it gets trashed.

@Leyland Thanks for clarifying that.

I pretty much finished the app but I sent my sat scores to them yesterday. I think it takes a week before they receive it so ill send my application asap.

I never knew or saw that we could not send sat or act scores prior to sending the application. Why would they trash the application being that scores are received first?

@purified no, they don’t trash the application; they trash whatever is sent in before the app. I think the app establishes a file and without it they don’t have anything to link the other docs to. We have to resend a transcript now.
