Roomates and majors

First, I was already assigned a dorm room and I was wondering when and where I find out my roomates? And second, I am a transfer student (60 credits already down at a JC) and I am trying for the PoliComm major or a Comm major with a minor in Poli Sci. I talk to an advisor and they said those two majors are VERY selective. What are my chances as a transfer student to get into either major. And if it is not possible, what major do you suggest I look into that is similar?

Communications isn't selective - it's in the Columbian College and not in any specific school. You may be thinking of Journalism, which like Political Communication is in the School of Media and Public Affairs.

I have no idea how getting into Poli Comm works for transfer students, so if I were you, instead of just talking to your regular advisor give the SMPA office a call (you can find the number on the website), and ask for the freshman advisor's e-mail or any faculty e-mail. All of them are out for the summer (or were a week ago), but they should respond pretty quickly. I have found that no one really knows anything about SMPA except for the students and faculty in SMPA.

Did you declare a major on your transfer app? Also, depending on what classes you've taken already (specifically Gen Psych, Stats, Govt, and History), you might be able to work it out as a transfer. I hope something in this response is helpful...

Yea, I have taken general psych, stats, government, and history. I also have the 2 comm classes down. But I really want Poli Comm but no one can help me. They said my best bet was to email the director so I guess I have to do that. Thanks. Any more info would be great
