<p>Roommate and dorm assignments are up! DS will be in Queen Anne's.</p>

<p>Wow, Queen Anne’s is REALLY nice!</p>
<p>Hmmm. Interesting development. D2 finally got through via phone call (no email responses) to her assigned roommate. She talked to the roommate’s mom, and it turns out said roommate isn’t going to attend UMD! I told her to just plan to bring the refrigerator, and carpet (that we already have), and to assume she’ll get a roommate sometime!!!</p>
<p>This is very strange - unless possibly the “roommate” registered for classes.</p>
<p>The reason I say this, is a few weeks ago my daughter received an email saying that because she is not registered for classes, she will be removed from the residence list Aug 1. We had to email to explain that as an International, she cant register until after International Orientation at the end of Aug.</p>
<p>So if the “roommate” didnt register for classes and was still on the residence list, she should have been removed Aug 1.</p>
<p>I wonder how many others are out there like that!!</p>
<p>I assume they have some number of “no shows” when school actually starts…people who may have paid the deposit, but somewhere along the way they decide to bail… The roommate-who-was-not-to-be’s mother said they had made multiple calls and sent letters to UMD to tell them she wasn’t attending (don’t think she attended orientation)…looks like she may have fallen through the cracks and didn’t get removed Aug 1??? If they don’t figure it out before move-in day, I’m sure a new roommate will arrive soon thereafter.</p>
