I was wondering, during the summer do you have to move out of your room, or can you just leave all your stuff in it ? If you have to move out every summer, is there any place where you can deposit your stuff ?
It would be kind of hard for me to bring back my whole room to France and back…

Yes, you do have to move out of your dorm room at the end of each academic year.

You can easily make arrangements to have your stuff stored for the summer. There are plenty of mini-storage facilities in the Boston area. Usually even the smallest rental unit (5x5) is big enough for 2-3 students to fit in all their stuff and sharing can reduce your cost.

Or if you want to avoid the hassle of hauling your stuff to the mini-storage place, you can use a service like College Boxes, which will pick up and return your stuff directly to your BC dorm at specific days and times. But check them out carefully before you sign any contract, because I have seen some negative comments about them on CC.

Dear Kabalou : As with any college, your dorm space each year is "rented" from the school. You will move in at the end of August and you will be required to vacate the dorms by 5:00pm on the final day of finals in the Spring - and yes, it is that carefully specified. (You will be able to leave your dorm room in tact during the Christmas break which is just about four weeks at BC.) Each year, you will be assigned different dorms and likely you will choose different roommates, but you need to get through your first year before worrying about such things.

BC will provide you with details towards the end of the Spring 2009 semester (end of your freshman year) about college storage. Given you are coming from overseas, you will want to either take advantage of that service or make good friends with someone local who might be able to store your stuff.

Good luck and welcome to Boston College!
