Rose Hill student taking questions (Campus Life/Admission/Classes/Dorms/etc.)

I'm a Fordham College at Rose Hill undergraduate student. Ask away.

Thanks for offering…tell me about the dorms, on campus food, and social life…

does Fordham have a model UN?

are you perchance a biology major?

food is so repetitive but you can eat outside fordham

parties suck but you can party outside fordham

hope you have fun here

Someone told me FA is sometimes better once you are in. Her son was a business major but got more scholarship money as an admitted student than as an applicant. Is that a rare occurence or does Fordham have a lot of internal scholarships?

The vast, vast majority of scholarship money, for merit aid, is granted to incoming freshmen. There are very few and very specific scholarships for upperclassmen. All applicants are reviewed for scholarship potential, but normally an SAT (the single largest factor) must be 1400/1600 or higher. Some exceptions occur. URM’s are in a different category.

However, Fordham gives financial aid to those who qualify with a FAFSA, based on federal guidelines. Any aid for upperclassmen is based on financial need.

If someone got more aid as an upperclassman, its because their needs changed.

Oh, okay, she made it seem like it was for your grades in the school and specific for your major. Her son was a business student and he got a scholarship given for that area.

Notmartha, the food isn’t that great but edible. You’ll probably get sick of it by the time you’re done with the first semester. However, there are some really good Italian restaurants nearby. Social life isn’t all that great around Fordham except for some house parties/local bars. Your best bet would be to hop on the Ram Van (Fordham’s inter-campus transportation) and reach Manhattan in 20-30 min depending on traffic. As for the dorms, the underclassmen dorms are average. I lived in Queens Court, which I think is one of the best dorms on campus, but is very small and very limited in the amount of students that they take (it’s basically the dorm where all the “smart” students live). You even have to write a small essay to be considered. The dorms for upperclassmen are really sweet, including the one that they’re building right now (Cambell, Salice, and Conley Residence Halls). I believe they spent $20 million building those residence halls, and it will soon be completed if it hasn’t already been done so. You guys are so lucky entering Fordham at such an exciting time (I’m jealous). By the time you guys are junior and seniors, there will be so many new buildings up (Fordham is in the midst of a $500 million campaign), and the economy will certainly improve by then. Great time to be in school, especially a good one like Fordham, right now!!

Are they dorms for college students at fordham rose hill ?

@Jemina‌ Yes, many students live on campus at RH. Google at the Residential Life page of the Fordham for more information.

How many feet of hanging closet space in forced triple?

This thread is four years old.

How about an update???

Many dorm changes at Rose Hill. Huge changes. Hughes is now the Gabelli School of Business. North is now called Loschert. Martyrs is now a freshman dorm. Loyola was the Jesuit residence and is now a very special Freshman residence with a special program. Queens retains its normal allure with its programs. Campbell and Salice-Conley opened in 2010-2011 as new apartment living for upper classmen and is gorgeous.

LC has a new residence hall which sits atop the new law school in a 250 million dollar building. Opened this year.

You have to go visit and see inside. Lots happening.
