Rosen or Main Campus

My son will be attending UCF in the fall. He is majoring in Hospitality Maynagement & Marketing. Since he is an OOS & very social student I’m concerned about him living on the Rosen campus. With no classes on Friday & limited shuttle service on the weekends (events only) I’m concerned about him enjoying the social aspect of college. An insiders thoughts & experience is greatly appreciated.

Have your son dorm on the main campus. My daughter was a hospitality major and all of her gen ed classes and some hospitality classes were at the main campus. The main campus is very vibrant and alive and the shuttle between the two could take an hour or more. Rosen is very quiet, more geared toward junior or seniors looking to take specialized hospitality courses.

Definitely have him dorm and select classes on the main campus. He will be much happier on the main campus.

I’ll tell you what my tour guide told me. If you want the typical college experience start at the main campus, if you’re more concerned with being immersed in your major and being in the heart of Orlando, start at Rosen. Both have pros and cons, so it really comes down to what he’s looking to get out of the year and if he prefers the big school feel or a small school feel.
