My daughter is an incoming freshman this summer and is entering the hospitality program. My question is will she be able to take her first 2 years at UCF and then move to the Rosen campus, or will she have to be at Rosen all 4 years? She wants to be part of the marching band and other clubs, so is hoping to stay at UCF for a couple years first -

She can take all of her general education courses on the main UCF campus. They also offer some hospitality classes. Eventually, there will be more and more courses and professors that are only offered at Rosen. She can commute by car or take the UCF bus that goes over to Rosen, so she doesn’t have to stay there if she would rather be on the main campus. The distance time is around 35 minutes, depending on traffic and the classes are only 2 or 3 days a week, so if she schedules them right, it won’t have to be every day. No worries.

My daughter will also be an incoming freshman this year and has decided to live on the Rosen campus. She does not know of any other freshman living there, and is currently looking for a roommate.
If anyone is interested or knows of someone, please let me know.
Thank you!

As an alumni of Rosen I spent my first 3 years at main campus then moved to Rosen for my senior year. I have never heard of a Freshman living at Rosen, although I’m sure there are plenty. I would recommend spending freshman / sophomore year at main campus involved in clubs/band then moved towards Rosen around Junior year. As a Rosen student your daughter will be required to work (I think it was 800 hours) in the hospitality industry, I would suggest doing this on the “Rosen side of town”. This would limit the amount of time she has for “fun clubs” and at this point she would be looking for towards a career anyways.

Krom1 - we had orientation a few weeks ago, and met up with several incoming freshman who are staying at Rosen - even starting with the summer session - I’m sure you’ll find some!

UCFSororitygirl - thanks for the info! The orientation we went to at the end of May was really informative and answered a lot of our questions. We agreed that the tentative plan is to move out to Rosen her junior year. Although we live in a small area and she’s looking forward to moving to the BIG campus, we were both super-impressed with the Rosen campus and she’s looking forward to heading over there her junior year.
