Decisions should come out in June. Post your stats and decision!
Hello all, Happy Friday! Decisions for Ross will be released this month (sadly not today, but check your WA New and Prospective Student Center at 5:00 ET on future Fridays) so I wanted to bump this thread and also make some announcements.
Latest news:
The BBA Class of 2019 Class Size is expected to be 625. The admissions director presented this data during a presentation in April so I’d say that number is valid given Ross will be expanding, and the BBA class size was 580 last year. Alternatively, it appears that the admission rate will DECREASE since more pre-admits were accepted into the program last year.
The following data per Ross BBA Class Profile: “181 pre-admits attending”. 625 expected class size - 170 preadmits (decrease of 11 accounts for those that can’t make eligibility for acceptance or changed majors) = 455 RD admits. According to the BBA Class Profile, there were 473 RD admits, so it appears this year’s round will be more competitive. (https://michiganross.umich.edu/programs/bba/class-profile)
As far as expected release date of decisions, last year decisions were released on June 19th, so that lines up with June 17th this year. Keep an eye out for that date, or worst case scenario, June 24th.
Lastly, I would like to clarify that the BBA application process is holistic. Essays, extracurriculars, and grades (with course rigor factored in) each account for an equal 1/3. This data is proven in the BBA Bulletin. (http://www.bus.umich.edu/pdf/BBABulletin.pdf)
And if you are accepted into Ross, here are a couple links you will need to check, the BBA RA Admit guide (https://michiganross.umich.edu/admit-guide/bba) and course registration/orientation information (http://www2.bus.umich.edu/MyiMpact/academics/incoming-sophomore-bba-registration-information-fall-semester)
Best of luck to you all!
Is there a waitlist and if so how many people have gotten off it in previous years?
also is there a website that posted this news or do you work for admissions?
My information has come from analyzing previous years and current students of Ross, as far as expected class size, while no, I’m not in admissions to validate it, I’m fairly sure thats the target as why else would they say it was in a conference in April. No information for waitlist options, would advise just checking previous year’s threads.
Thanks for the info @carlsandburgsr but it does make me feel even more nervous about my decision. @MoneyMan17 Judging from previous years there seems to be a waitlist but I have no idea how many people are admitted off of it.
I’m so nervous ugh. Good luck everyone!
what is your gpa @Wootiwantodream , if you don’t mind me asking?
its 3.75 @carlsandburgsr
Is the 11 PA’s not making the cut a fact or are you guessing? @carlsandburgsr
Actually have an update for you. On iMpact you can check who is registered as a BBA sophomore, and I counted a total of 148 students on there, so it appears there will be even more students being accepted in the RD round. http://www.bus.umich.edu/Impact/Profile/Connections.aspx
Also, Megan Miller, an admissions rep for Ross posted in the FB group. Not really much of an update but I’ll quote what she said,
“Happy Friday! We’re rolling out the morning with a brand new Facebook Cover Photo! What do you think?
We hope all our current and future Rossers are enjoying a little summer vacation! Congratulations to all you recent High School Graduates and best wishes to our current Regular Admission applicants! We are in the process of reviewing your applications and plan to release decisions by the end of June. Reach out if you have any Qs! #MichiganRoss #Victors2020 #RossBBA2016”

…soooooooo what about my question @carlsandburgsr
The number “11” was just a guess, the number on iMpact is the actual number. So roughly 30 PA’s changed their minds or didn’t qualify for admittance into Ross this cycle.
i feel like it’s very unlikely that 30 PA’s lost their spot
@carlsandburgsr How are you accessing iMpact?
When you initially log in it will authorization failed but in top right it will say “Welcome ____” Click that and then go to your profile and ross resources to look at BBA sop/s/directory/etc.
Not all of the 30 are people that didn’t meet the 3.3 requirement. I’d say about half did not get a 3.3 and the other half are internal and external transfers.
lol there is no one listed in the soph sections except for this one person lmao
Yeah thats weird, they dint assign sections until the class has been decided… maybe its a glitch? You can see all the sophomores, just not their specific section though.
On some the previous years links there is talk that if your IMPACT profile has an automatic updated MCard photo and address then that is a clue indicating that you are in. I don’t know how accurate that is though, I feel like they have your address from your application. This could totally be bogus and just kids finding meaningless information for the time to pass by while they waited for decisions, Thoughts???
Anyways, I applied as a sophomore. My freshman year I went to Michigan State then transferred to umich LSA. Started in summer 2015. Econ 101 and FYWR transferred over. I took Calc 1 and got a B+. Took Econ 102 and thought it was pretty tough…got a C. I hope the courses that transferred over or the low grade in Econ 102 do not hurt me too much, considering that most Ross BBA students take 102 pass/fail. Also took STATS 250 and got a B-.
I know those grades are slightly lower for Ross, but I have a really unique story. I feel my essays and EC’s were strong and different as compared to the typical “I started a business blah blah blah” stuff. I talked about how I wanted to use business as a positive impact. I explained how I wanted to go on their study abroad trips and learn how to help underprivileged areas create business in order to strengthen the economy. I had almost different people read my ross essays and eventually I got stressed because each person gave me a different opinion that sometimes contradicted with each other. For example, some kids told me that mentioning a business class you are interested in taking was a must, others told me that mentioning classes is too cliche. Things like that.
I met with an admissions counselor as well as registered and attended every workshop Ross offered. I heard it looks good if you go to them. Then again it could be all talk.
I am super nervous and really hope I get in.
