For any of you all out there, what are you taking in the fall? #1 son has orientation this upcoming week. I know he will be working with advisors from both Ross and Honors - just curious what people are signing up for. Also wondering - if he placed out of Econ 101 with AP Scores, does he still have to take it for ross program?

He can use AP credit to pass out of Econ 101, but the AP level is nowhere near the Michigan Econ 101 level, so I would highly recommend moving on to Econ 102, which is required for Ross anyway. He shouldn't take Econ 101 over again.

Do u mean AP econ is harder or Michigan Econ 101?

can macro AP credit place u out of taking Econ 102 as well?

for the fall, ive registered for chem 210, calc 116, soc 102, and eng 125. i didnt want to overload myself with econ 101 + orgo chem and calc ii. i'll be taking econ 101 next semester

My advisor said not to take Econ 101 and Calc 115 during the same semester, both of which are Ross prerequisites. (Economics or Calculus AP credit may be used to satisfy the Ross requirement.) A first year writing class is also required for Ross. Both Ross and LS&A require fourth semester proficiency in a foreign language. I also signed up for a first-year seminar in the humanities area from a highly rated teacher.

Most (not all) people commenting on Econ 101 say it is very difficult. This is the strongest reaction I've seen on the Michigan CC site to a 100 level class.

brhchs06, yes it can..if you score a 4 or 5.

My load is econ 101, great books 191, calc 285, and anthro 101

I meant AP is way easier than Econ 101.

Thanks everyone, you have been a big help - looks like he can place out of econ 101 and calc 115....it just helps to know ahead of time what your paramters are, I think!

i'm taking econ 195 and calc 215 at the same time along w/ great books.. do you think i can handle it?

of course you can.

wait, if you place out of econ 101 and calc 115 using ap credits, does that mean you have to take a different econ and math class?

nope, only if you want to.

this is only true for pre-admits, right?

a freshman applynig to ross would have to take the preqs?

No, you can place out of them whether or not you are a pre-admit.

Take Econ 101 with Janet Gerson, that's what I'm doing and I am majoring in Business!
