If Mich is a stretch, and you are instate Ohio, I think that may be your best choice. The âROIâ thing may never exceed the extra cost, especially after you get your fist real job:)
@CCYSDH My son got into Michigan last year but denied pre-admit to Ross, so for us it was an easier decision to go with Fisher as a direct admit and as recipient of the national buckeye and provost scholarships for OOS students. Plus we got 0 aid from Michigan and I could not afford to take on an additional $120,000 in loans to afford the difference in cost for Michigan anyway. No school is worth taking on so much debt. You can get an excellent undergrad business education at Fisher. I have previously posted about Fisher on the Ohio State forum and my son is very happy there. That being said, Michigan is an amazing school on so many frontsâI know because I am an alum (LS&A) and still stay connected with the school. Last year my son and I took a tour of Ross, it is impressive and top ranked in the country. Itâs just a question of what you and your parents can afford. If âitâs just a stretchâ for your parents and they either have the cash available or can comfortably afford paying back loans, and if you can borrow the maximum each year ($5,500, $6,500, $7,500, $7,500) then I think you should go for it. But if your parents will have difficulty paying back loans on top of you taking out the maximum amount of student loans ($27,000) âand if your attending Michigan would hinder any younger siblings ability to attend college, then it is not worth it in my opinion, and the scales would tip in favor of Fisher and the Buckeyes of Ohio State.
@CCYSDH There are several other great threads on College Confidential discussing Ross vs. Fisher. Under latest posts do a search using the terms âRoss Fisherâ and you will find them. Hereâs a link to one of the threads from April 2015:
