The website says the applicants will be notified of their status in mid-April. Has anyone who applied to this heard from the institute?

Is anyone an alumni of the high school summer research program?

Is anyone an alumni of the high school summer research program?

There is another thread on this.

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/summer-programs/877496-roswell-park-research-program.html

A few people have posted that they have been contacted by Roswell for summer spots this year. It looks like last year they trickled out the acceptances (probably by department within the cancer center), then responded to everyone left by email on 4/18 with a “rejected” or “waitlist” status. I could be wrong, but I suspect if you haven’t heard by now, your odds aren’t so great. My daughter is waiting to hear, but is starting to assume that she did not get in and will need to use her backup summer plan instead.

hmm, I see… I didn’t get any email whatsoever, so I’ll assume I didn’t make it. Thanks for the link, and I hope your daughter has a good experience in her backup program!

Well, I do think they respond to everyone. Maybe later this week if last year’s pattern holds. And they apparently have a few waitlist spots, although no telling if anyone actually ever gets off it or how they choose. So all hope is not lost.

^
If you don’t mind me asking, how did you find out abut the open waitlist spots?

The thread I linked to above contains a couple of years of posts on this program (someone just revived it earlier this year). So if you read through top to bottom, you can see that on 4/18 last year, quite a few people got emails telling them their fate. Many rejections, but a few were waitlisted. As I said, I have no idea if anyone ever got off the waitlist (no one posted later saying that they had, but of course not everyone accepted or waitlisted reads and posts to this forum). I just know that it exists because some people said so last year, and assume they will follow the same pattern this year.

Has anyone heard back from them yet?

Nothing for my daughter. I think you will see a few posts on this thread or the longer one I linked to above when they send out that final set of emails. I doubt anyone has been forgotten… they just haven’t communicated yet.

I still haven’t heard back from them either, but unfortunately I can’t wait any longer for their email decision. I hope whoever gets into the program has a great time there!

Do you guys think we still have a chance if we haven’t heard back yet?

did anyone else get into molecular pharmacology and cancer theraupeutics?

I was accepted to Roswell this year! I’m going to be working in Cancer Genetics under Dr. Gelman. I was wondering who else got accepted and would actually possibly like to discuss the program with fellow acceptees. :D

@DastardlyCrab Did you just get accepted today?

I still haven’t heard back from Roswell, is anyone else in a similar situation? Does this mean that I’m waitlisted? I really need to make a decision on where I’m going this summer, preferably by tomorrow morning :O

@lilyy96 No, my acceptance letter was actually emailed to me on April 5. I had to accept or decline my offer by April 12. I’m still yet to get a letter in the mail notifying me of my acceptance though.
I hate to sound like a Debbie Downer, but you most likely didn’t get in. The only reason I say that is because I didn’t realize I’d gotten my acceptance letter until April 25 (I stupidly put an email I rarely check and has a bunch of other emails), so Dr. Kisailus called me on the 25th asking about whether I was accepting the offer or not.
I would still strongly suggest though that you call Dr. Kisailus and inquire about the status of your application!
